The 1972 350SL and the 1973 450SL were the only two model year cars delivered to the USA with the small, European-style chrome bumpers. This distinction, along with the pre-catalyst robust and reliable 4.5 liter V8 , makes this the most collectable of the 107-series SLs, which ended in 1989 with the last 560SL.
Unrusty and well-preserved examples such as this one are very hard to find. We purchased this car from the second Arizona owner. It has a ownership and service records from 1981 to present.
This is an excellent original example, with one quality repaint since new, and consistent maintenance as evidenced by the records.
We have sold two lower-mileage chrome-bumper 450SLs this year for $30,000, indicating that this great-running car has a lot of value at $15,000.
